Comparatively leather apparels material is very much supple then of furniture or non-wearable product material.

Within leather apparels, the quality and range of skin hide fluctuate. Explained by followed example, the hide been used for genuine aviator leather jacket is tough and warmer then that used for styling bomber jacket it is also applied for leather motor jacket and stylish one.

Leather apparels such as leather dresses even though some amazing wears such as swimsuit are dare to make of leather. That’s the reason it is expected for leather to have quality to be sleek like silk and airy like cotton.

So let’s in bit of in detail as in which hide is being used for which leather apparels and why.

Lambskin Hide- Lamb is richest and exotic skin. The quality of lamb hide is unmatched by any other hide. It provides and promises both airy and warmer feature with time being. Lambskin is also expensive in price range. It apparently used for leather garments like bomber leather jacket, leather dresses and fancy leather pants. Other skin hides bit lambskin in terms of toughness, as it cannot bear the harsh or hard injuries. The hide expects high maintenance as it is very much sensitive.

Cowhide- Cowhide is alternate option for lambskin leather apparel. It is at affordable range. The comparison of cowhide and lambskin has mirror difference can’t be distinguished until and unless it is expert eye. Cowhide is popular for all available leather apparels even some professional wear such as biker leather pants and motorcycle leather jacket is also made of cowhide leather. Though it won’t provides that promising rich appeal like of lambskin but surely stands as durable and tougher skin to bear even hard and harsh injuries.

Buffalo Hide-Buffalo hide is next to cowhide but not less than cowhide. It has same as quality same as above-mentioned hide but bit of roughness is present and outer texture is different. One can’t easily different between these two hide. It can bear and still last long even if faced with water or stain material.

Goatskin- It is extremely durable quality leather material. This goatskin leather apparels used in colder atmosphere as it provides protection warmer and coziness.  The hide is also fame termed as Morocco leather. Leather apparels such as leather shirts, leather halter, leather vest is made of goat hide. Thus, it is also lighter in weight with durable resistance quality.

  1. its mentioned that k lteehar lacks the durability seen in other lteehar and yet it has 10 times the tensile strength of cowhide and is 50% stronger than goatskin.. im a material engineer and from my understanding, if i say e.g. material A has higher tensile strength and stronger than material B and C, i would say, material A is more durable/tougher than B and C. this isnt a case for lteehars? im no lteehar expert so am i right to say, the abrasion resistance of k lteehar is somewhat not as good compared to others? can someone clarify this =) I always have the impression k lteehar is the best in terms of durability and comfort.. if it isnt the case, then perhaps i shouldnt have gotten the adipure but rather adicore or adinova.

  2. Actually, as a leathercrafter for the last 20 years, there IS a deecfrinfe between calf leather & full grain leather. Calf leather is just that-the skin of a young cow (calf). It is softer & stretches easier because the skin hasn't toughened up yet. Full grain leather is the skin of a mature cow, one that has had time for the grain of the hide to get tighter & thicker. It is common for hides of full grain leather to have scars from barbed wire in various areas. Calf leather can be softer than kangaroo, but does not have the tensile strength of kangaroo. It is an inaccuracy that I noticed in the adidas catalog stating that calf is full grain.
